The Amman Light Rail Transit (LRT) is a 60 km electrified light-rail corridor connecting North Zarqa to Queen Alia International Airport, following the existing Hijaz Railway alignment. To be developed in three phases under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the project revitalizes Jordan’s historic railway into a modern, sustainable transit system. The project will enhance urban mobility along Amman’s busiest north-south axis with a capacity exceeding 100,000 daily passengers, reduce congestion and travel time, and provide seamless integration with the city’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and Amman Bus networks.
